About the Firm

Arman Javid

Founder & Principal Attorney

Arman Javid founded Javid Legal to give growing businesses direct access to senior, partner-level counsel — the kind of legal judgment typically reserved for companies large enough to run their own in-house department — without the overhead and layers of a big firm. He serves as outside general counsel to clients across a wide range of industries, including software, manufacturing, food and beverage, financial services, entertainment, consumer products, e-commerce, health care, and restaurant and hotel services. Arman regularly speaks before business, industry, and legal groups on intellectual property and transactional issues.

Intellectual Property

Arman develops strategies to commercialize and protect clients' domestic and international intellectual property rights. He prosecutes trademark and copyright applications and manages corporate trademark portfolios, advises on brand strategy and defense, and resolves trademark clearance and enforcement issues. He has extensive experience handling trademark disputes before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and has handled — and won — high-stakes disputes involving trademark, false advertising, unfair competition, copyright, and general commercial matters in state and federal court.

Corporate Formation

Arman works with entrepreneurs and investors on capitalizing corporations and LLCs, drafting founder and advisor agreements, and structuring executive employment agreements and incentive compensation plans.

Corporate M&A and Maintenance

Arman also advises later-stage companies on financings and M&A transactions, representing companies and investors on both sides of deals ranging from small asset sales to transactions valued up to $100 million. He is also experienced in drafting and negotiating technology and commercial services contracts.

Background

Arman has nearly three decades of experience advising entrepreneurs. Before founding Javid Legal, Arman was a partner at Moscone Emblidge & Rubens, founding partner at Javid Rubens, and a partner at both McQuaid, Bedford & Van Zandt and the San Francisco office of Hanson Bridgett. He holds a J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law and a B.A. from UC Davis, and is fluent in Spanish and Farsi.
